 Sexy case, and it fits the DSi April 9, 2010

I'd seen this case (snake) a few times in stores and thought it was stunning, but hesitated due to the price, the stylus on the front, and not knowing if it would fit my DSi. Eventually I found it on clearance at a game store half price, so I figured it would be worth a shot. The DSi fits perfectly, and the case is really nice quality. It snaps shut with a magnet and the stylus fits through a loop on the front. I thought I'd be annoyed by the stylus, but now I just use that stylus instead of the one inside the DS. It's actually pretty convenient. I'm so happy with my purchase, and would pay full price for it if I had to at this point.

First of all, let me say...this is absolutely GORGEOUS. When you buy things online, it's hard to get a good idea of what the item will actually look like, and this one exceeds expectations. The color is a very deep ruby red, and it is wonderfully shiny. It is a very impressive presentation for a video game system, which is generally a more childish thing. It makes me want to play my DS so I can show off my fancy new case. This is NOT a play-through case. I would have easily given it five stars if it were. I had to take a star off for this reason, because I buy cases for protection, and the system is completely unprotected while you're playing it. This might seem silly, but I'm a butter-fingers and am prone to dropping things very easily. The inside is a tan felt-like cloth, and the case is thick, which will provide a little cushion in case of a short fall. There is no space for extra game cartridges, which would have been nice.
The one I received does NOT have "Nintendo DS" on the front lower right corner, as the picture of this item has. I am not sure if there is a particular reason to this. Personally, I'm glad it doesn't. There is a magnetic snap under the cover, so even without the stylus it stays shut (and I love that it's magnetic because it snaps together on its own.) The stylus on the picture has an all black tip, and the one I received has opaque-y white plastic at the very tip. I realize this quarter-centimeter of plastic is a small complaint, but I feel like it looks a little cheaper this way. I would have preferred that the entire tip be black. I am also not a huge fan of the stylus being on the outside of the case. It feels a little awkward holding onto the stylus, opening the case, pulling out the DS, opening the DS, and then doing all that in reverse while putting it away. This, again, is relatively minor, but I feel the stylus is just begging to be lost. Besides my whiny complaint about the white tip, the stylus lends to the attractiveness of this item.
My only other complaint, and this is really a design issue of the Ninendo DS, is that you can't charge your DS while it's in the case and the case is closed. The case would not have looked good with a hole in it for the power supply, so it's really not the fault of this case, I just thought I'd mention it. I had this issue with the case I had it in before, also.
All in all, this is an absolutely gorgeous case, but it could be slightly more functional. I have no intentions of using any other case, although I might use a silicone sleeve for protection while the DS is out of the case.

I spotted the black version of this at my local game store, and there was a picture of the red one on the packaging, but none in stock at the store. When my Amazon order arrived I was quite pleased to see that it is an elegant and sturdy little item, a nice quality texture, and much more elegant than the silly navy Nerf Armor I had been using. Very nice!

This case is simply lovely and classy indeed. It isn't bulky and fits my DS perfectly. The stylus being on the outside simply adds to one of the reasons I like it because it keeps the case closed. You have to remove the stylus in order to open the case. Which works wonders for me considering I have a two year old that loves getting into my things.
