Things are a little tight, but it fits the DS, six games, the little stick, and some extra storage. Great little product

3 out of 5 stars Ds Case   May 3, 2010

great case, has 6 slots for Ds games and a padded interior to make it harder to damage whats inside. A great buy in my opinion.

5 out of 5 stars DSi Fits Well; Case is Thick; Best case I found for DSi (protects L & R buttons)   April 9, 2010
Brice Center
This is a great case for the DSi (or DS Lite for that matter). I settled on this case for my kid's new DSi. My specific goal was to protect the L & R buttons from damage. He dropped his old DS Lite on the L button, and it broke...that is why he now has a DSi. This case was the only one I found that seemed like it would do a good job.

Every other case I tried either didn't seem too protective, or just didn't fit the DSi very well. The DSi is wider than the DS Lite, and the L & R buttons protrude from the back of the unit unlike the DS Lite. Many of the cases out there were really designed for the DS Lite, and end up being too tight for the DSi.

OTHER CASES:
-------------
In some cases, like this one that I bought New Nintendo DSi / DS Lite EVA Carrying Hard Shell Case - Black, the L and R buttons touch the inside edge of the case, and sometimes actually get pressed by the edge of the case. I think that the DSi's L & R buttons would just get broken anyway if it were dropped while inside that case. I kept that case for my other kid's DS Lite, though, because it fit well without touching the Lite's buttons, and I bought this Mini Folio case for the DSi instead.

After many hours reading reviews at Amazon and elsewhere, I nominated this case, and two others as possible purchases for the DSi. I went to Walmart and looked at all three: this one, the DSi System Wallet, and the DSi Voyager. The Wallet was a VERY tight fit, and the top flap was not stiff enough to protect the L & R buttons if dropped. Also the tight fit seemed to press the volume button on the left side during insertion...afraid of damage there with repeated use. Also, people in reviews said it was a lint magnet, and I could see that first hand. The Voyager also did not seem like it would protect the unit well on the sides, and it seemed like a huge hassle to get the unit into the case...also other reviewers pointed out that you cannot access the stylus in the unit, and instead have to use a separate stylus that you keep in the Voyager. So, I settled on this Mini Folio case, which fit well.

THICKNESS:
-----------
This is a THICK case. Not totally horrible, but it is a full 2" thick, with a stiff spine like a hardcover book that zips up. It does have an extra flap thingy inside that could probably be cut out to help it be a bit thinner (if you squash the spine a bit, too). The other dimensions are 4-3/8" x 6-3/8", which are very reasonable. Again, I am willing to put up with the thickness if it protects those fragile L & R buttons, which it does very well.

POCKET vs. STRAP INSIDE:
------------------------
The one I got a Walmart on 4/9/2010 had a full pocket to hold the DS as is shown in one of the product pictures where the Folio is open and you can just see the edge of a white DS Lite sticking out of the pocket. There is another product picture above showing almost the same view, but the unit has a strap inside and no DS shown. If you look closely at another picture the product packaging has a picture of the inside of the unit with a strap holding a white DS Lite. I thought I would prefer the pocket vs. strap, but I can't really say. It is a bit of a hassle to put the unit in the pocket, so we don't even use it, but also really don't have to. The slight compression from the top and bottom of the case when it is zipped shut keeps the DS secure, and prevents it from moving around the inside of the case.

CONCLUSION:
------------
So, in my opinion, this is the only case I found that I thought would properly protect the DSi without contacting or allowing damage to the fragile L & R buttons.

3 out of 5 stars DS Lite Mini Folio- Crimson   March 14, 2010

I thought that this item was a bit thinner because the lite is much lighter than the original, but I guess this will do.

5 out of 5 stars Very durable   February 10, 2010
M. Gomez (Orbital)
This folio is great to carry around the ds with some games and stylus room and a pouch to hold extra games or something else. I love it.
